I'm in rather a sad slump as I am organizing pictures from our Nauvoo trip. Where was my camera for all the funny moments? I only took 42 pictures (not all of which even look fabulous) during our 10-day trip. Jill could take that many pictures at a Seven Peaks outing!
(Devin at Silver Dollar City Amusement Park in Branson. This is the only picture that I took there. Sad!)Actually, I guess that I should be proud of myself that I did indeed go to the store before the trip and buy a charger. (If you will remember, I thought that I had left my camera charger in Arizona during our last trip.) Sadly, after I opened my charger and used it, we found our other charger in a box in the basement. There went an unneccesary $30!!!
(Jake with Grandpa Max. (Nate's grandpa who is on a mission in Nauvoo.) Grandpa Max is a true cowboy and one of Jake's heroes. After we got home from our trip, Jake used his allowance money to buy cowboy boots. Very cute!)My new goal? To actually use my camera.
(Have you ever actually seen a lily pad? We were there at the perfect time -- the lily pads on the Mississippi River were absolutely beautiful with the biggest white flowers.)
(We allowed the boys to choose one souvenir. This is just another thing for Jake to add to his dress-up collection. He comes up with the best outfits.)
(Max and Jake at window in Carthage where Joseph Smith was martyred.)
(Max and Jake at Nauvoo Visitors' Center)
(Boys in Mark Twain cave. Part of our scenic 9 hour drive to Branson. Very cool -- but $50 to take my little family through? Honestly!)Jill -- I can do it. I know that I will regret it if I don't use my camera. So, Jill you are my hero. I hope that I will become a little bit like you.

Only 42 pictures for a 10 day trip!!!! What in the world? You're right, I would take more than that at Seven Peaks, more than that of my kids playing in the sprinklers, more than that at Amy's birthday dinner the other night! Wow, I'm in shock.
The pictures you did take look good though and seem to capture important parts of your trip. I'm glad you had someone take a family photo, and also that you are in the lilly pad photo. It's important to be there too, so well done.
Now about taking more pictures, will your camera fit in your purse? I carry my digital camera in my purse so it's available all the time. I love it that I can do this (my SLR was too big to do that). I bet if you start keeping it with you you'll be more inclined to take lots of photos. Also, that's so funny that you found your charger after you'd bought a new one. You could sell it on ebay or return it to Walmart.
I do this too Jana and it makes me so mad! My extended family is not big on getting their pictures taken, so I always feel bad about taking a lot of photos of people who dread them. That, or I bring my camera and take a bunch at the start of a trip then just get caught up in the fun of it all and forget to take more.
I think the ones posted do look good though and you will at least be able to refer to them even though there aren't a billion to sort through. I like the camera in your purse idea. And if you still have the packaging for the charger- or even not- WalMart will totally take it back and just ask why you are returning it. I had at least one person return someting like that because they found their original one or something.
At least you have some cute pictures. I go in spurts with how many pictures I take. I love to have them later but do feel like I either miss out on some of the now action when I am always behind the camera. I think it good to be doing the fun things too and not just documenting. Sometimes I leave the camera home on purpose to force me to participate. As usual - where is the happy medium?
cute pix and I grew up on a lake with lily pads- I love it when they flower too!
OK, I know what you mean. It seems that I have a hard time balancing my desire to document every fun thing that we do with my desire to actually have to enjoy the activity without feeling like I have to document everything. It's a quandry that I can't solve. Although I have to say that 42 pictures in 10 days is way too few. Especially since you have a digital camera!
ok 42 photos. I take at least 100 at each monoument or day outing in the city.
remeper digital photos are free to take.
great photos though.
how are you felling?
I am so glad you posted pictures of your trip. You have such a cute family.
The camera thing just takes practice, I have just learned to take mine everywhere because you never know when you will have a kodak moment!
I was able to visit Claude Monet's house when we were in France in 2004. Talk about lily pads! I also loved looking at the lily pads in Maui last year.
Looks like you had a great trip - although long drives are never very fun!
Collette -- the lily pads reminded me of Monet's gardens, too! We may have to all take a trip out there...
Jana, although I do think you should have taken more photos, at least you did take 42! And they're cute ones (love jake's headdress). Think how long you've gone without taking any at all...
I would totally return the charger now that you've found your old one.
