Sports -- Forever

Yesterday we spent the evening at Max's coach pitch game and tonight we spent the evening at Jake's t-ball game. We have baseball games four days a week for the next five weeks -- and then soccer starts. Can you imagine what's going to happen in the next few years when I will have four boys playing sports? (oh....make that five. Nate is still a sports freak.) I'm going to be living baseball/soccer/football/golf/basketball.

I really do enjoy watching my boys play, and they enjoy playing. Jake, unfortunately, is too young to play coach pitch, but over-qualified and too big for the t-ball team. What do you do with a five-year-old who is ready to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated? He's really cute with the younger kids and is really good about helping them. He's learning a lot about the purpose of team sports, which is good.

We had a white elephant-style service gift exchange for Enrichment tonight. I won the services of a cake decorator. I am so excited. I'm going to use this service for Max's birthday in July. Sadly, my kids really don't get a decorated cake for their birthdays. I usually do the "make-your-own-cupcake" every year. I just simply don't know how to make birthday cakes, nor do I want to learn. Last year I finally decided to buy a birthday cake for Max's birthday. It was $30!!! I'm not going to do that again. Does anyone else have any hidden talents as a cake decorator, or are you just like me and choose the easy way out with the cupcakes?

I like to fancy myself a cake decorator, but sadly, I am not. I do like to make cakes from scratch, though. And I love to make my own frosting. So, you don't get fancy from me, but hopefully, you do get yummy!

I took a cake deco class 6 years ago and still have all the tools. Before I had Mya I used to make all the cakes for family b-days and did a Groom's cake for my sister's wedding. I loved it and thought I was getting better the more I did. I have not made a "fancy" cake in about 2 years now, but still make cakes versus buying the box mixes. Lucky you to get such an awesome service- can't wait to see the pictures!

One of our classes next week for enrichment is cake decorating. I haven't ever tried to do anything like that before. It seems like a good skill to have but I never want to put the time in...

I have all the cake decorating tools, but I decorate cookies more often than cakes. I'm not that good at decorating cakes, but I do love to make them from scratch. I usually just leave them plain, except for Lucas's treasure chest cake that he's had 3 years in a row! I got that one off of Family Fun's website.

I can't believe how many sports-related events you guys do. Crazy. My poor kids haven't been exposed to much because I never seem to know when the sign-ups are, and then I think I'll get it right next time. I'm actually signing them up for soccer tomorrow (it's been on my calendar for a month).

I love to buy cakes specially the ones that are so pretty decorated...however they can get pricey...so I only do for special ocassions (but they have to taste good too!)

No luck with me. I have never tried, so I really couldn't say if I could do it or not.

You are a great mom - enjoy your games!!!

Well, you sound like my family growing up. My mom dropped kids off, went to pick up another, drop another off, went to pick up the first, and rarely sat through an entire game. But it sure makes for fun summers. I too am not a cake decorator. But, I buy the mixes and make a 9x13 cake at least. I try to write happy birthday on it. You can buy cute sugar decorations at the supermarket to jazz it up a little. That is the extent of my cake decorating abilities.
