So much fun!

I just got back from my San Diego/Arizona trip where I spent 5 fabulous days without kids. I highly recommend this for every mother. It was a much needed break. Nate was incredibly sweet to me and was glad that I had the opportunity to go. My inlaws were so supportive and came up to help Nate take care of the kids so that he could work. To all of them I give my sincere thanks.

The initial purpose of the trip was to go with my mom and sister to see "Wicked" in San Diego. Ever since buying the CD, I have absolutely loved the music. Seeing the actually show, though, was amazing. It was so well done. I LOVED it!!!!!!!

All three of us took the: "Is your personality more Glinda or more Elphaba" test. My mom's and sister's personalities, according to the test, are both more Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West). My personality, according to the test, is more Glinda (the Good Witch).
If I had to choose a role in the show to play, it would definitely be the role of Glinda. Her songs were so fun. I would love to get my voice back to where it used to be and play a role like that. Someday!

The initial plan was to fly home after the play, but Kelli was going to drive to Arizona to spend a week, so I decided to tag along for the drive and spend a day or two before flying back to Utah. I am very glad that I did.

I was able to meet my sister, Allison's, baby for the first time. He was born in May and she named him Barrett (our maiden name). He is absolutely adorable.
I was also able to visit with my brother, Kyle, who got into a horrible car accident a couple of weeks ago. After seeing his cute little bug that he was driving, I'm surprised that he is even alive. The car is totalled. When we got the call about the accident and were told that he was life flighted to the hospital, my mind automatically prepared for the worst. I am so glad that he is OK. He broke a few teeth, a little chunk came off of his nose, and he bit his tongue through and had to get stitches. He was in the hospital for about a week. The steering wheel is completely bent and twisted. I am surprised that he doesn't have chest trauma. He is still undergoing some tests, but I was so happy to see how well he is doing.

My trip was full, but successful. I even slept until 11 am one day. I think that it has been since college that I've had that opportunity!

I was excited to fly back and to see my kids. They are so cute. And they were so good while I was gone (or so I was told). I'm now putting my house back together and getting back into the swing of things. After being home for a full day, I think that I'm tired again and need another vacation!

I am so glad you had a good time! You have had so many trips, I forgot about this one to see Wicked! Just to clarify- isn't Glinda actually the bad character in the book? (Maybe not by the end seeing as how I couldn't get past the animals and the Animals!)
Your sister looks like a fourteen year old babysitter! I can't believe she's the mom!
Well, I'm happy to hear you are home safe and that your trip was a success!

The point that they are bringing out in the show is that Glinda and Elphaba were in fact friends. Glinda turns for the good as her purpose is to help the people of OZ and to raise their spirits. Sadly, I need to re-read the book. I forgot a lot of the little details and can't remember where and if the show digresses from the book.

Sounds like you had a great time. I'm so glad you got to go take some you time and just relax and enjoy. I'm also glad that your brother is doing well. And sleeping until 11 a.m. -- WOW!!!

I didn't realize your trip was 5 days WITHOUT kids, how marvelous! It's so nice that you get a break once in awhile. You're always so busy and doing so much for your family (extended and immediate) that it's a wonder you sleep at all.

I'm glad Kyle is okay, that was quite a scare. I didn't realize your sister had had her baby already, it's not even a year since the wedding right? That went fast.

Fun! I'm so glad you got to go visit your family without your kids. I love going home alone. It's a little bit of time for me to be a kid again--unfettered, no responsibilities. My will is law! Ahhh. I could really go for that! It's especially nice that you got to go before your baby's born. You're going to be wishing for another break!

I'm glad that your brother is doing well. What a horrific asounding accident!

Oh, by the way, the play does digress from the book quite a lot, I've heard. For example, in the book Glinda was beautiful but not nice at all. It was Elphaba, the misunderstood one, who had a loving family (though not a biological one) and a relatively good life.

Interesting, Amy. I definitely need to reread it. Elphaba definitely did not come from a loving family in the play.

Sounds like you had a great time! I am jealous that you went and saw Wicked. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this play. My mom rant and raves about it. Maybe one day I will go. The picture of the three of you at the top is so cute. You all look so young and cute!

Also, glad to hear your brother is okay. I am sure that was very scary to hear the news initially.

What a fun trip! It sounds like you had a great time and fit a lot into 5 days!

I am glad your brother is doing so well, that is nice you got to see him. It helps to see for yourself that he is ok.

5 days without kids, ahhhhhh.... That will definitely tend to make you appreciate them more. Don't you hate coming home from a vacation and then feeling like you need another vacation??
